Every piece crafted at LilyEmme Jewelry is crafted with quality and endurance in mind. Taking care of jewelry is simple and there are a few steps you can take to ensure your jewels last you a lifetime. If you ever have any concerns regarding the maintenance of your jewelry, please feel free to contact us or speak with your local reputable jeweler.
Every gemstone and metal can scratch so rings especially should be removed before gardening, exercising, or any other form of heavy activity. Put your jewelry on after spraying perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and cosmetics. Avoid chemical cleaners, abrasive polishing agents, and chlorine. A polishing cloth can help bring back the shine but will not remove scratches. A combination of mild soap (like Dawn dish soap), warm water, and a soft toothbrush will provide a very good gentle cleaning when you need it. You can soak most jewels in this solution for 30 minutes to remove more stubborn dirt. Store your jewelry in anti-tarnish bags or in closed jewelry boxes to preserve the high polish. Refrain from using DIY jewelry cleaners, chemical cleaners, and home ultra sonic cleaners.
Gold is a beautiful precious metal that is one of the least reactive of all metals. However, we do recommend removing any gold jewelry before swimming in chlorine water or handling chemicals as there is potential for spotting. Gold can be cleaned without chemical agents, all you need is a polishing cloth.
Special care should be given to gemstones as they may be more susceptible to harm from chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners. Refrain from using chemical cleaning agents on gemstones and inquire with a local jeweler or LilyEmme Jewelry to learn about options for a deep cleaning. A gentle detergent like dawn dish soap mixed with warm water can be used with a soft toothbrush to scrub around and beneath the stone to clean and restore sparkle. Avoid wearing your gemstone jewelry in hot tubs or natural hot springs which may cause irreparable damage to certain gemstones (prolonged high heat is bad for opals, turquoises, and other "soft" stones).
Our diamond and moissanite jewelry is constructed to be long lasting and heirloom but special care should be given to all stones including these because they are still susceptible to breaking if they are hit just right. Take care to protect your stones from chemicals and vigorous physical activity and visit a local jeweler if you have concerns about settings. A gentle detergent like dawn dish soap mixed with warm water can be used with a soft toothbrush to scrub around and beneath the stone to clean and restore sparkle.
